Hyundai i20 Elite, a Beautiful Dissapointment?
At first glance, anyone will fall in love with the new Hyundai i20 which was launched in India on 5th November. The i20 is completely upgraded in every sense possible, the exterior is transformed and some key upgrades are the headlights, puddle lamps front grille and alloys, the front, side and back profile are nothing like the older versions. The in Transterior has tons of upgrades, the Creta styled steering which gives a feeling of comfort, metallic pedals, a 10inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Car Play and Android Auto integrated with driver's display console(not common in this segment), a better legroom and under thigh support, a digital cluster MID, electronic sunroof, front and rear USB charger, Oxyboost air purifier, wireless charger with cooling pad, blue ambient lighting and a fully automatic temperature control. The car looks very premium from the interior but the quality of the material used inside the cabin could have been better.
In terms of performance, i20 is powered by a new 1.5lt U2 diesel, producing 99bhp and 240Nm torque available in only with a 6 speed manual gearbox and a 1Lt Turbo and1.2Lt Kappa Petrol engines available in a manual and a 7 speed Dual Clutch Transmission. The fuel efficiency varies from 19.25 - 25.2 kmpl(on paper).
In terms of Price, the i20 has a difference of a little over 1Lakhs in its Ex-Showroom and On Road Price. The range starts from7.75 Lakhs and the top end variant is priced at 13.12 Lakhs(On Road Price).The i20 Elite is priced around 2 Lakhs more than the older version (top end variant), which is the reason why the Indian market is not very happy from the car. The price competitors of the i20 are Kia Sonet ,Tata Nexon and Maruti Suzuki Ertiga.
