The SSC Tuatara Controversy, 331mph? All a Lie?

Before getting started about the main issue, let me give you a basic idea of what this Hypercar is all about. The Tuatara was launched back in 2012, 2020 Tuatara has a 5.9L Twin Turbo V8 that produces  1726hp and has a power to weight ratio of 1.38(for every 1 kg there is more than 1HP).

Now on to the main topic, SSC  North America on 10th October,2020 posted a video on their YouTube channel which showed the Tuatara going 331mph one way and 301.07mph the other ,giving an average speed of 316.1mph. The entire world had gone crazy on seeing a car achieving the speed that crushed the Chiron Super Sport 300 and every other rival. Immediately speculations were made as lots of people were suspicious about the record even though officials from DEWETRON and Jarod Shelby were present. Even after the press release lots of Questions were left unanswered or were not making sense. SSC then issued a press release of DEWETRON validating the top speed run.

However, after sometime DEWETRON issued another press release in which they refused of validating the SSC Tuatara top speed run.

The highlighted part reads, "Therefore, we again want to highlight that DEWETRON neither approved nor validated any test results. No DEWETRON employee was present during the record attempt or its preparations."

According to me the reason for the sudden denial is the footage had some very major flaws if properly investigated, one such example is in the 360 degree footage, the helicopter seen flying besides the Tuatara had a top speed of about 150mph and at that point of time the SSC Tuatara was at 190mph and rapidly increasing. On 31st October Jarod Shelby accepted that there were faults in the video and assured to be back again very soon to do a rerun, this time with all the officials present.

After that no one spoke about the record until November 11th,when DEWETRON  made another press release in which they again contradict their own words stating  that they validate the top speed run of the SSC Tuatara.

If you ask me, all of this is in a mess, when even the officials fail to confirm whether they were there or not then I believe that the video released by SSC was not the truth and it never went past the 300mph mark. Don't get my statement confused with any interpretations, I strongly believe that the SSC Tuatara has the potential and power to go past the 300mph and create a new World Record, next time the SSC team should be completely prepared and must thoroughly inspect all the GPS devices and who knows the Tuatara might even be faster than 331mph.
