Pravaig Extinction Mk1, The Tesla of India?
Founded by Siddhartha Bagri, Pravaig Dynamics is a Bengaluru based startup. It is evident that India is not yet ready for electric cars as all the technology is being imported and due to the lack of charging stations. Although cars like the Kona, Nexon EV and ZS EV have introduced practical Electric cars in the Indian markets none of those cars were even near to the Extinction Mk1 launched recently by Pravaig. Mr Bagri has informed that majority of the car is manufactured locally with the exception of certain high-end parts. The company is being referred to as the Tesla of India but is it really that good? Lets find out.
Exterior
From the exterior the car looks pretty futuristic and thus hence a lot of road presence, the Prototype Mk1 has only 2 doors however the production version is said to have 4 doors. The LED headlamps and taillamps are designed in a thin strip which looks very clean.
Performance
In terms of performance the car has set new standards for the EV market in India, the numbers published by the company are pretty amazing. The Mk 1 will produce 202 HP and 2400 N-m of Torque making it capable of doing 0-100KM/H in just 5.4 seconds which is quicker than the BMW X6(0.1 difference) and a top speed of 196KM/H. The founder claims that the battery will have a span of 10Lakh KMs with a range of 504Kms in one charge and the battery can be charged from 0-80% in just 30 mins using a Dc fast charger. If these numbers are true, it will become the longest range EV in India.
Launch
The company is expected to start production by November 2021, it will be limited to 250 units of Mk 1 annually and the car should be available only in Delhi and Bengaluru initially, the Mk1 is expected to reach customers by late 2021 or early 2022.
Verdict
In my opinion if the stats are true then it is going to be really beneficial for India in many different aspects, but there are certain things they should be really careful about such as the Price. We should also not be expecting much until the stats for the production model are out.
