The 2021 Swift
Maruti Suzuki just introduced a facelift version to their largest selling hatchbacks. Although the swift continues to carry on the same looks which were highly appreciated by car geeks, there are a few subtle changes in the exterior and interior along with certain specifications and performance upgrades. So let me tell you about everything new the car has to offer.
Performance
The most updated part of the 2021 Swift is its Engine. The old 1.2 litres-4-cylinder engine has been further improved both in terms of efficiency and performance. The engine now gives a fuel economy of 23.20kmpl in manual transmission and 23.76 kmpl with automatic transmission. The engine now produces 113Nm of Torque and 90bhp(earlier it was 83bhp), making the new Swift more aggressive yet economic. The car is now capable of doing 0-100 kph in 11.75 seconds(0.51 seconds faster than the current version).
Exterior
The exterior of the Swift remains almost identical to the current version, however, the front grille gets a little bit of chrome treatment along with a new mesh pattern. The other highlights are the dual tonne exterior shade which comes with the ZXI+ trim. The dual tonne shades are available in three different colour combinations. The other highlights remain the same as the current version.Interior
The interior of the new swift is still the same as the current version, the all-black interior gives the car a sporty look, the seats are comfortable with ample headroom and can easily fit 5 people. However, rear visibility is not that good.
The infotainment display and the instrument cluster remain untouched as well.
Features
The tech and features provided by Maruti Suzuki are great considering the segment and price range. The Infotainment display is the same which is offered in their every range with smartphone mirroring and a host of cloud-based services. The sound quality is great, however, it is not the best in its segment. The ride quality and handling are pretty nice.
The new Swift now comes with Cruise Control, Bigger Brakes, ESP, idle start-stop function and key-synchronised auto foldable ORVMs.The car still comes with dual front airbags, ABS, reverse parking camera.
Price and Competition
The new Swift is 15000-20000 more expensive than the current model, however considering the upgrades in the engine and specification, the price is reasonable. The 2021 Swift starts at 6.41 Lakhs and goes up to 9.49 Lakhs. The alternatives of the new Swift are the Tata Tiago, Tata Altoz, Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and Hyundai i20. The new Swift is a great choice if you are limited by budget but don't want to sacrifice much on power or comfort.
